2008 Bezedek Bezedek is situated in the southern part of county Baranya, near to the Croatian border. Administraively the village belongs to the notarial district of Lippó. It has a population of 307, it is mainly an agricultural settlement. It is first mentioned in documents dating back to 1296, the age of the Árpáds. The small villaged has lived through much historical turmoil. It was ruined several times, its inhabitants changed, but it has always survived. Until World War II. it was inhabited by Germans, who were hard-working, sparing people with a good knowledge of agriculture and animal husbandry. 1948 was a turning point in the life of the village, it suffered serious losses and its development slowed down. After the change of regime of 1989, the village regained its independence. The village is constantly developing, and the results of this development already show. One of the main aims of the Municipality of Bezedek is to provide the best possible living circumstances for the population of this disadvantaged settlement. This includes: the protection of the cultural heritage of the village, supporting people in a disadvantaged situation, helping young people to buy own flats, helping talented young people to get scholarships, promoting the settlement of intellectuals in the village.
